Antique Cast Iron “FOR TOFFEE” Hammer – Early 20c, Suffragette Era

£42

Original cast iron toffee hammer with raised “FOR. TOFFEE” lettering.

A genuine early 20th-century example, likely dating to around 1900–1930, with natural age-related wear and patina. One-piece cast construction with a traditional dual-face head.

Toffee hammers of this type are historically associated with the early 20th-century suffragette window smashing campaign where similar everyday tools were used in political demonstrations.

Good overall condition for age, with expected signs of use and light surface wear.

“A great little shop. I was taking a little break on my trip down to Portsmouth and stopped in Whitchurch. I came across this gem of a shop and couldn’t resist going in! Got myself some wonderful little geeky coasters but it had so many other things I could have bought!.”
